Little the TSA does has a logical backing to it BUT I would not want a lot of liquid sloshing around in a garbage bag that could easily leak or smell.
Even with tinfoil hat, I could have done that outside the security checkpoint. I mean, if I were a terrorist and had a terrorist buddy.

It also doesn't explain the prohibition on drinking it - that would show the terrorists.

I've had this happen twice - EWR and SFO. Neither was accommodating.
