I think they use same system as Starbucks, as it turns out the reason why we are seeing some have EMV and some without, is all dependent on the merchant account provider that location is setup with. All SBUX with EMV processes through Chase Paymentech. The others don't, and I'm unsure as to what they use, but as usual, waiting on certs with that merchant account provider., or they're in the process of switching to Chase Paymentech.
In Canada it is completely normal to see the name of the merchant services provider right on the terminal because they're leased. In the US, they put a Starbucks logo where the Chase Paymentech logo went, because they're owned by SBUX, rather than leased through Chase...Chase in the US does not lease PIN pads only, only standalone terminals.
Target in Canada had Mx880 but with a small TD logo on there. Funny thing is that they did run Target software with that 5% Off RedCard animation, meaning it was fully integrated. I don't understand how this was leased/purchased.
