Perhaps I'm jaded as a UA veteran, but I would
never take what a phone agent told me over the published rules on my reservation.
It's pretty universal that telephone agents are specifically not authorized to vary written T&Cs. UA will specifically tell you that when you raise the "but the phone agent told me . . ." defense.
