I have a very nervous flight whenever I've done this, but I've never had a problem.
I bought some wine carrier sleeves and a nice glen carlou case that fits 3 bottles in a polystyrene type case - perfect. Never had a bottle smash in my suitcase yet but it's usually also very well packed.
Grand cru or more expensive wines over £60 a bottle are ordered from Les clos to ensure no heat damage.
