When I lived in New York going to Subway was a joke. There were half a dozen sandwich places within a 2 block radius, and they were all better. I think I ate there twice in 2 years. Both times were on holidays when all the family-run restaurants were closed.

Since moving away from the northeast, though, Subway has become one of my go-to restaurants in the fast food category. They're not great, they're not even consistent, but I find them more appealing than most fast food burgers, tacos, steam-tray stir-fry, etc.
