Sometimes it takes a couple of days for AC/AE to get it back from other airline. I've found it easier to just call the other airline and give them name/flight number and get it from them. Can do seat assignment on same call.
This strategy also quickly identifies if the tx is a problem in any way.
FYI, I did this a few months ago with Luftansa and learned they now protect more desirable seats for their own FF and *G mans nothing. If the seat you want was protected and not available to you it is available at the airport, they will give it to you.

Also, Aeroplan could not provide me with the PNR for SQ, so I called them and their PNR was the same as LH's.
As for seats, LH also blocks off 2 in F for bassinet and releases those if not needed.
BR blocks off certain seats for it's top tier members and if available at check-in, you can switch. Sometimes they are, sometimes not.
