Which Card for award trip next year to Japan?
As the title suggests, I'm looking to sign up for a new credit card (hopefully by the end of the week) that best helps me and my future wife, given our plans.
My current CC situation:
-My fiancee and I both have Chase Freedom CCs. I currently have 32k points.
The vacation plan:
-Take a 2 week trip to Japan sometime next year...either late Sept or early Oct.
-My dad is willing to use his 186K AAdvantage points to help book our flights.
-Ideally looking to go first class, business class at the least, for the round trip which will most likely originate out of NYC.
-Would prefer to fly a combo of AA and JAL.
The Credit Card Options (open to other suggestions):
1. Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite...targeted for 60k sign-up
2. Amex Platinum...targeted for 100k sign up
3. Chase Sapphire Reserve
4. Citi Prestige...(Also 100k, I believe, but could be the public offer)
My Thoughts on the cards above and goals for a new card:
-Obviously I would like to maximize my dad's AA points, so I am looking into the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite. I believe I was offered 60k sign up bonus. My only concern is that this card does not offer a ton of benefits outside of frequent fliers that use AA on a strict basis. I'm not sure if that categorizes me.
-Amex seems appealing but from what I read transferring points to AA would be impossible. Plus, some of its perks don't seem as good as the newer cards.
-Most of our spending is done at dining, retail, and gas and groceries, which makes the CSR very appealing (3x dining)
-We will be traveling out of country for our honeymoon later this month, so I would like a card that has some nice travel benefits and one that doesn't have foreign transaction fees, etc.
Any help and suggestions would be great. Thanks!
