I like the reassurance of being able to look at my reservation and see the waitlisted message, I know I didn't mess something up at booking that way.

I can't see AS doing away with F upgrades but I do see them getting a lot tougher to get. The big unanswered question we are all waiting for is how will the new premium economy affect upgrades.
