It touched down at 900 fpm. A quick google shows typical max of ~600 fpm for landing so it may have damaged the landing gear on touch down. Also it said the plane touched down on the aft first (i.e. a tail strike). Even if the gear were fully was extended the tail strike would have been likely. Probably would have been messy regardless of whether the gear was extended anyway.
