I also read it as the OP having a ticket ORD-VIE, with a connection (albeit a long one) in CDG. The connection is <24 hours so not a stop over. In this case, isn't the airline's responsibility to get him ORD-VIE only? They are not required to route via CDG. Perhaps that's why he is getting pushback from the agents. He wants a ~23h stop in Paris but they can reroute him however they like, provided they get him to VIE. Or am I reading it wrong? So looking for flights to CDG when the ticket is to VIE could be causing the problem.
