AA award flight cancelled. Have to pay additional to rebook to BA?
Hi All,
I booked "multicity" award flights from ORD->CDG (23.5 hour connection)->VIE departing 7 pm on November 23rd and returning from MUC->TXL->ORD on December 4th. I booked these two flights as two one-way milesaver award tickets, so they're on two different reservations.
AA just emailed me that the ORD->CDG flight has a "schedule change". Supposedly, they are getting rid of the ORD->CDG route, so now I will have to fly ORD->PHL->CDG->VIE. The flight will now leave at 1:30 pm which isn't going to work because I don't want to use my PTO to take the whole day off.
I called AA and asked them to book me on an alternative BA flight (which has milesaver) availability, but the agent said I would have to pay the outrageous BA taxes and fees. I escalated this to a manager, but couldn't get her to budge either. I don't think they are making a fair effort at rebooking me.
What do you think I should do? Should I continue to press?
In addition, I also asked them if they could just refund my whole trip (including the MUC->TXL->ORD leg), but they said they couldn't because it's booked on a different reservation. Do you think I can eventually get someone to change this for me?
I can move my whole trip one week ahead. The direct ORD->CDG somehow is still available the week ahead. The problem is that there is no milesaver availability on the MUC->TXL->ORD back. Do you think I can have them open up a milesaver for that route back eventhough that trip is on a different reservation?
Thanks a lot for your help!
