Based on comments here in an earlier thread, I decided to slim down my Dopp kit using the Amazon Basics case. Here's the review (and pics) I left on Amazon:

Makes a decent toiletries case - much smaller and much less bulky than my old Dopp kit. The internal dividers aren't great for this purpose - but I'm mostly interested in having it take less room in my carry-on. I may still decide to just cut out the internal flaps and pockets - I'm not carrying that much stuff anyway. It's tight, but may fit everything easily without the flappy thing.
