Gosh - don't get me started on security at MAN. It's shocking. I will never go through screening unless my bags accompany me. Had an incident just a few weeks ago. First tray went through and I was about to go through prior to putting my wheelie bag through when I was told to put my wheelie bag in a tray. But there were no trays. So all my personal items went through and I was left the other side of the scanner.. Where there were many people due to much rescreening of bags. After quite a few minutes of no trays being brought forward, i mentioned I was uncomfortable that my belongings were available to anyone who would like to help themselves (believe me, this happens - I used to work for an air.ine). I was told I was making a fuss.
Not happy. Moving on, I board my flight And we are delayed. The delay gets longer (1 hour plus) and senior ground crew are involved. Guess what? A passenger has had their belongings stolen at security. Talk about QED. And this is not the first time I have experienced this at MAN. But it will be my last. Whilst im happy to fly into MAN, I now elect to fly out of LGW which is so much more civilised. Please don't misunderstand me. It is not security who help themselves. However, they are not cognisant of what can happen to passengers personal belongings as they are solely interested in examing contents.
