The delay in getting the baggage delivered is poor performance by BA.
I find other aspects of this story rather whiny though. Today's society seems to be full of people who are like headless chickens when it comes to taking their affairs in hand and dealing with unexpected situations.
First, even as inexperienced travellers, I do not understand at all how you leave "vital" medicines in checked bags.
Secondly, once the s*** has hit the fan, surely what you do is you take matter in hand: Florida is English speaking, very welcoming to tourists, it's not like you're in a third world country. Hotels usually would be happy to assist in locating a doctor, etc. A few years ago while in the USA I had to go and see a doctor for an acute gout crisis (I don't want
Hiddy to make any comments on my lifestyle, thank you

). My travel insurance was able to arrange the appointment. A member of the hotel front desk drove me in their car. It was all pretty effortless (and certainly much easier than the occasion where my partner needed emergency dental treatment in Italy

). Just to say: asking will get you much further than panicking.
Thirdly, how wise is it to go somewhere that far on a strict budget? I know that I can access additional funds if I need them when I am away, that surely is common sense? Not having any contingency arrangements seems rather silly to me.

I once accidentally left my (strictly prescription only) medicines behind and had to go get two weeks worth after I discovered this on arrival. A local CVS sorted it for me in less than half an hour.
