I remember traveling when my children were small. Tight budget and trying to deal with tired and hungry little ones along the way.
I am glad to see that there are many that are sympathetic to this family's plight. Those that travel a lot know and plan for the pitfalls that may come but those that do not learn from their mistakes. My children are just starting to travel and I try to give them advice - buy travel insurance, don't put important items in check in, etc. But I have learned this from reading travel forums - and not everyone has the time or even knows that travel forums exist!
I cannot imagine FINALLY getting to my destination, after being delayed, to find out that my luggage had not made it. First it is the time taken to figure out when it may arrive....then the hassle of trying to decide if we need to buy things or if it will arrive the next day....and what about the medication that mom needs....next day it still has not arrived so we need to buy clothing and toiletries...I now have to find transportation (we had taken a shuttle from airport to Disney, so had no rental) to purchase clothing and necessities while trying to not spend too much because we only have so much money available - all while the children are wanting to enjoy the whole reason they had traveled so far.
Maybe it is because I am older....but I am exhausted just thinking about it....
