Delayed suitcase arrives half-full - how to make claim?
I flew AF EWR-CDG-DLA last week (On an AF ticket), and was told upon arrival in Doula that my bag was still in Paris. It spent the night there, then flew the next day, spent the night in Doula, then was driven 6 hours to where I was staying. When it arrived, half my clothes were gone, including, strangely, all of one of two types of underwear. Someone clearly had time to rummage through things. It appeared as though it had been unpacked and then repacked. When I explained/complained in person a few days later when I returned to Douala (There were no phones where I was) The local AF guy (The one who handled the delay originally) said he noticed it was light when he gave it to the delivery guy, and that it was open (no lock). He wrote up a report saying that, and making up an original and final weight to back up his story. He was supposed to have weighed it when it finally arrived. I wondered if he was trying to cover for someone.
Anyway, I was told to send the document to AF in France and wate. Is that really the best route, and does it have a chance of producing anything?
The good news is that I was updgraded from Y to C on the EWR-CDG and CDG-EWR legs!
