But what I found out is that you can only have the start date activated on the 1st or 16th of the month. You can't just start your 90 day window whenever you want. It has to be on the 1st or the 16th.

There is one retroactive feature however. Say you call up on the 10th to activate for a flight on the 13th. Since the 16th won't cut it for you (too late...it's after your flight), the agent can retroactively sign you up back to the 1st so your flight on the 13th counts.

Of course, your 90 day window will have a start date of the 1st too, so you lose a bit of your opportunity window there.
