Question is, with the Hilton Honors, is it better to keep that as points or convert them to miles for Delta Skymiles, which is what we both currently have through AMEX. Thanks for the info.
Welcome to FlyerTalk,
wernerd46.
I would suggest keeping them as points for now. As long as you have some activity at least once per year, your HHonors points won't expire, and you can make the decision of whether to transfer them somewhere at any time, it doesn't have to be now.
Also, be sure to register for every points promo. For example, the one starting right now, you can find out about through this FlyerTalk thread:
but it's not yet prominent on the Hilton HHonors website.
And read the details in the thread, not just the headline: There's strong rumors that it may be triple points for mobile booking come October.
You'll get a better idea of the value of the HH points
for you when you try to see what you can redeem them for, that fits
your travel needs.
Take with a grain of salt posts which declare that something is universally "the best" or universally "the worst". (That's the flaw I find in the post above mine.) You can get value out of each program if you know how to get value out of it. You can fail to get value in each program if you don't have realistic expectations. Even though maybe not as often as in some other programs, I've gotten good redemptions here and there from Delta and good redemptions here and there from Hilton HHonors.
And it'll take time before you earn enough points to redeem, so you have some time to learn the ins and outs of the Hilton HHonors program.
