That's not clawing back.

Clawing back means taking back something you've already earned.

Not giving you something that was "promised" (though did you read the T&Cs of the offer thoroughly? often they mention that the account has to "open and in good standing" for some amount time) because you canceled the card before it would have posted is not "clawing back".
