The OP is in the UK, where most decent cards do have foreign transaction fees. That doesn't really matter here though as the OP wasn't talking about foreign transaction fees: AA's website here bills in Pounds Sterling, so foreign transaction fees are irrelevant, though it does charge a processing fee to pay with a credit card while the fee isn't charged when paying by debit. @:-)
