I'm at the Ren, in the middle of my stay, and cannot praise this hotel and its staff enough. While on the Hop-On-Hop-Off tour today, we passed the JW. It's in the upscale shopping area, but the Ren better suits me. If you want to be able to quickly walk to restaurants and shopping, the JW might be your better choice locationally. The Ren, however, is a solid choice.

To specifically address some points made by @nacho... While checking it, it was mentioned that the Ren has the largest pool in Malaysia, so I can confirm that. They also said it is the largest hotel in KL. Crossing the street was a chore, made worse by the fact the button for the crosswalk is not working, but I survived. The bottom floors in the West Wing are currently being renovated. There is at least a year left until all the rooms are done. The West check-in has been shut, so all check-in is on the East side. And I saw the NZ cafe from the cab on the way here.

The staff at this hotel has been bend-over-backwards service-wise. I met a couple backpackers on my flight here. They are staying near the Ren and asked if I wanted to split a cab. Since I was planning to take a cab anyway, and they reminded me of one of my nephews, I told them I'd just pay for the cab and they were welcome to hitch a ride. When we got to the hotel they were marveling that there are two towers and an army of bellman. A couple managers came out to greet me, said they were expecting me a whisked me to the CL. Those boys likely Googled my name quickly to see who I am to deserve the rockstar treatment.

Check-in was very personable and smooth. The hotel upgraded me to Jr Suite in the East Tower with a view of the Towers. Pictures of the room have elicited raves from friends and family. There is not tub in the bathroom, only a large, walk-in shower.

This hotel has two CLs. On the East side, it's called a Lifestyle Lounge. It's got the type of seating that encourages people to socialize. On the West, it's a more traditional CL. Both have the same food offerings. Both are very nice.

When I went over to see the West side CL, one of the Concierges asked if I wanted a tour. Sure, why not? He took me upstairs to see the Royal Suite. It's awesome. Two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room and a kitchen. It's very nicely done. It goes for about $1,200US/night, or about x15 what I'm paying for my room.

If anyone wants me to check out anything before I leave, please do not hesitate to ask.
