DEL yes. Most flights to DEL are 80% full in Business. I was told this by a high ranking SQ official at a party. They pulled out of Punjab as they just could not fill the Business or cargo loads.
Punjabi's are wealthy and spend a lot of money I agree. But airlines just weren't able to fill the premium cabins. Hopefully times have changed I would love for a long haul carrier to give it a shot.
You are talking about Silk Air flying to Amritsar more than 5 years ago. Things have changed and people can afford to fly.
The number of indians/sikhs living in NZ and Australia, and those working as professionals in Singapore and around asia has grown significantly since then.
If Malindo Air can make it a viable business to fly to Chandigarh on a daily basis, can't see Amritsar being a mistake.
