If you have the AAdvantage-branded Executive card, it's a different story. That card grants you Admirals Club membership, not just access. The membership is tied to your AAdvantage number, not just the card. So you shouldn't need the card, AFAIK. (Note that I don't speak from experience, as I have neither card, but I'm fairly sure I'm right.)
This thread is about the Citi Prestige card, which is not AAdvantage-branded and grants AC access (with the card) but not membership.
