Doubtful. Fuel is cheap, regional carriers have low labor costs and flights are full. Ticket prices might be low, but they have ancillary fee revenue too. 60 Y passengers @ 125 each way and 6 F passengers at $250 and 10 empty seats (or nonrevs), you have $9K in rev minimum. That's a be profitable flight.
As far as upgrades go, pretty easy on point-to-points, but difficult on flights to hubs. SLC flights are somewhere in the middle.
Interesting promotion in that you have to be a new SkyMiles member. Doubt there are very many people without a SkyMiles account these days that fly enough to meaningfully impact the number availability of benefits for lower level medallions.
