Problem with online check-in: is it me or the system?

Wondering whether someone might have some insight regarding my current problem:
I'm trying to check-in to my flight from LHR to HEL tomorrow (AY840 - 1.9.2016) but unfortunately I'm getting an error message "Check-in can only be completed at the check-in desk". I get the same message from both mobile app and web. Has someone experienced similar problems now or in the past? Is it me or is this wider problem at the moment?
Ticket is very normal: AY ticket, AY metal, normal HEL-LHR-HEL return ticket. I've flown many times with the same flight and with a similar ticket and this is the first time I experience this.
Mostly I'm curious to understand why suddenly refused to check-in.
