I was under the impression that even the most restrictive fares (at least on full service airlines) had a clause in their rules that waived fees in the event of the death of passenger or family...

In the past, I've had to provide whatever info the airline needed in order to get the fees waived, ticket refunded, and/or book a bereavement fare. If I had the info when I made the change, then the fee was waived right there. If I didn't have it available, I paid the fee first and my cc was credited after I submitted the paperwork. Is that not the case at AC?
