I flew SYD-VIE in Y in 2002 and was generally very happy with it. The flight was 100% full in Y so very cramped but the service was good, food ok and the PTV was a life-saver. The 1hr break in KUL makes for a nice little break but as the flight is soooo long I'd really suggest taking a stopover in KUL if possible.
Having said that, I did cash in LH miles for an upgrade on the return flight as I was dreading the 24 hr return
