Stopover rules on ANA award

I'm seriously thinking about booking an award flight from SJC via NRT to CTS next spring, and have a question about permitted stopovers.

Most sources seem to agree that one stopover (longer than 24 hours) is permitted. Beyond that, I'm seeing some disagreement. Some sources say that one can only do a stopover on the inbound flight to Japan (that's what it sounds like from the wording on the ANA website, but I know that subtleties are often lost in translation). Other sources say that a stopover is permitted either on the inbound or the outbound flight from Japan.

Ideally, I would like to stopover in Tokyo for a few days on the way back. That is, I'd like to route the outbound SJC-NRT-CTS, and on the return go CTS-NRT, stopover in Tokyo for a few days, then continue NRT-SJC.

Would this be permitted?

Thank you!
