I had a similar experience on QF on the same flight. For me it wasn't just the quantity of food, it was the presentation. Given the first main meal service was enjoyable. That chinese cardboard box second meal service looks appalling. A plain white box with some warm food in it. No sweet or anything served alongside. Was what I would expect on a buy on board LOCO.
