Compensation for my horrible 24 hours?
Is it worth asking Canada for compensation for the following situation where my travel took 23 hours instead of 7 hours?
I was supposed to go from Ottawa to Mexico City with a 90 minute connection in Montreal, leaving 5:00 a.m. from Ottawa and arriving at noon in Mexico (7 hours start to finish).
When I got to the Ottawa airport, I was told that my first flight was cancelled because of insufficient flight crew. probably because of calling in sick. This meant missing my Montreal-Mexico City flight.
Instead, I was booked on United, which involved an Ottawa-Chicago flight, then Chicago-Washington, then Washington-Mexico City, arriving in Mexico at 6:00 pm. However, the flight Chicago-Washington flight was delayed because of bad weather, and I missed my Washington-Mexico City flight.
I was then booked on an Aeromexico Washington-Mexico City flight leaving at 1:00 am and arriving at 4:00 am.
This meant 23 hours travelling time instead of 7 hours.
Will I get something from Air Canada?
