As a New Yorker, I agree. Depends on your needs though - if traveling with family/kids, Marquis may be better as the rooms are much larger & all have sofabeds. Ren Midtown has smaller footprint.

If traveling solo or as a couple, the Ren Midtown is a "sexier" product with a great on-site restaurant/bar concept (operated 3rd party).

That said, the Ren Midtown location isn't as accessible as Times Square, but it's still a pretty great hotel.
