AA.Com matches the others fares most of the time, thus saving between $5-10 (service charge) AND getting 1000 miles booking bonus. I have also always tried to preferentially use AA.com, but lately I've had a really hard time with LAX-TPA, which frequently prices out at approx. $385 AA.com and $215 on Orbitz for the same exact flights. I called the AA internet fare desk, and they told me 'we can't match Orbitz' price, but we're glad if you buy your ticket there, since we own part of Orbitz.'
Obviously not the answer I wanted to hear...Too bad AA.com can't guarantee it's Internet rate as being the lowest, like Starwood does with it's own website's hotel rates...
