BTW incorrect date stamping happened to me another time in Denver when the agent stamped OCT 26 on my passport when the date was JUN 26. When I asked him to correct it, I was told to FO in no uncertain terms. When I exited th baggage area, I asked for a supervisor, showed her the incorrect stamp, she went back and made him correct it and re-stamp the passport. This was just before GE became available.
You've said you're a US citizen, right? So I'm struggling to understand...what's the logic behind stamping the wrong date in your passport? There are presumably plenty of ways to prove that you were in the country or outside of the country on any particular date, so how could the wrong date stamp be used against you? (Sorry, just struggling to understand why it matters/is relevant. Frankly, I've never paid much attention to the date stamped in my passport, and presumably the date stamp could be easily disproven by looking at the CBP electronic records.)
