The only issue may be that you would have to pay a checked bag fee upon re-check the next day.
Is that so? I thought I'd seen a rule that this did not apply for the domestic segment of an international PNR. I didn't need to pay with an overnight at ORD in this situation, but I'm exempt as a credit card holder.
