On a trip just completed, I flew back from JFK T7, but I found the lounge to be pretty average. I recall on my last trip from JFK, which must have been 5+ years ago that there was an incredibly good lounge, but this wasn't it. Was I in the wrong lounge/terminal? The one I recall had a fountain in it or some kind of water feature. It was unfortunate because I was there for around 4 hours. Equally, I could fly to/from Newark if people think that has better facilities.
Thanks.
Sounds like you were in Galleries Club the previous time and Galleries First this time. GF at JFK is not the most inspiring of lounges, relatively small (given the number of Golds and OWE using T7) and quite dark. As with LHR T5, the pax in F (on BA) don't generally use it as there is a CCR. GC is a bigger and briighter space, though with lesser food and drink provision.
If flying CW, my habit is to time things so I don't spend too much time in T7, just allow enough time to use the pre-flight dining room which is located off GC, and then usually only have about 15-20 mins in GF before boarding the flight. Maybe I'd allow a bit more time when flying F as the JFK CCR is nice, but T7 has never been somewhere I've wanted to spend too much time on each visit.
