For the OP, if he has content for Kodi, he can load that content onto video player apps. like VLC on the iPad.

There are apps like Infuse which will also play back video but you have to pay for the pro version at $10 in order to decode AC3 and DTS sound tracks.

Then you can load various video file formats like MKV, AVI, MP4, etc. into the app. using a web browser on your PC on the same LAN.
