I remember it well. Red boarding cards for first class. Was there a business class section? Can't say for sure but I think there was. I flew once on the upper deck to NY but it was an Econ service upstairs with 3 rows is 2x2. The seat was bigger than the ones in Econ. My first flight on the EI 747 was a return to SNN ex DUB. Flew on the 105 to SNN and later caught an Aer Lingus BAC 1-11 back to DUB. When I was 13 I booked the flight myself and went for the day to do some plane spotting. I remember an American woman behind me crying leaving Dublin telling the cabin crew that she didn't want to go home as she loved Ireland so much. I was tempted to trade her my SNN return for her ticket to NY but I reckoned this would have really annoyed my parents. I think the fare was £12.50 in old money. A few years later (1988) I managed the trip to NY on the J1 program. A friend of mine was on the last ever service from NY to Dublin. After leaving SNN the Pilot flew them to Dublin and headed north up the east coast on a sight seeing trip to celebrate the last flight. All in all....great memories.
