Nothing wrong with playing it safe, however in 25 years of travel I have never seen a single case reported where passenger electronics are said to have interfered with aircraft systems. If that was really the case then surely efforts would be made to limit the number of devices on board.
With all due respect, unless you are a pilot how would you know? I have been a passenger for fewer years than you but the pilots don't tend to come on the PA and give a blow by blow account of everything that happens in the cockpit.
