I've seen several posts in the past where people have complained that they can sometimes get much cheaper fares on Travelocity, Orbitz, et al compared with aa.com. Well now it's happening to me, and I wonder if there's anything I can do about it.

I need to fly PDX-MSY in June. Travelocity is quoting me $216 with a Q bucket. The best I can get on aa.com (same dates, same flights) is $386 in a V bucket. I'd like to get the booking bonus, but not for $170.

Has anyone had any success putting a reservation on hold on aa.com, then calling up AA and getting them to switch to a different fare bucket so they can get the booking bonus?
