I don't think there has been anything about the Altima that has been in the "avoid" column for many years now.
It was in my "avoid" column mainly because there was usually something of higher interest to be found on ES (or even EA). Nothing inherently wrong with the car itself. Just nothing that stood out, other than the standard Smart Key.
