You would do this even though you don't think the miles were earned by you? Well that too has to assume your account barely has miles in it and you will spend whatever miles you have including the gifted miles in one sweep, otherwise they can just take their miles back from whatever balance you have. Or they can always void your ticket unless you planning immediately fly this booked trip.

Why not just call and ask? I wouldn't take above advice and use miles unless they belong to me. Especially as now posted on flyertalk, as if it was an error, it is only a matter of time before the error is found and reversed. If legitimate miles then good to know why so you can use them without worry.
