While my original reaction was "how could they" - thinking about it more, this isn't really that bad. Even for the rushed traveller (I generally arrive at the airport about ten minutes before my flight starts boarding) - I can usually spare a couple minutes if necessary - and there usually are a bunch of options near the gate, so this should be doable. Given, it will be a rare occasion to find me in coach domestically - I still care about everyone else back there.
