Is that Las Casitas del Colca? It looks nice. There is the new Belmond train journey from Cusco to Lake Titicaca to Arequipa.

You might be okay in a lower season without need to pay the ~US$400 for private buses each way.

Also, the other main advantage if you can get in at Sanctuary Lodge is that the last buses from MP down leave before the park closes so we were in the park as it was emptying right out. We only left when the guards came and told us to go (after we ignored their whistles...). You can stay obviously, but I wouldn't want to miss the last buses and walk down the hill in bad lighting. Also consider morning - first buses leave at 5:30am - I had only just got to breakfast at Sanctuary Lodge at this time... I know some people look at the rooms and the price and can't see the value, but in reality you are not in your room for anything other than sleeping. There are good public areas to relax in (indoors and out) when not sightseeing or dining.
