If you're on the East Side of midtown, it shouldn't take more than 20-25 minutes. If it's more toward Times Sq and Midtown west, 30-35 minutes. Take a taxi, Uber or Lyft.
For 6am flights, I arrive between 4:45 and 5am and I fly Delta mostly. Even though C & D are connected, look up the gate and get dropped off at the respective terminal. Sure gates can change and if so, you'll be able to walk to the other terminal post-security.
