BA v SAS - a quick comparison

I'm a fairly loyal-ish BA flyer and have been for many years. I typically default to flying BA for my travels simply out of force of habit.

However the recent seemingly endless service cuts (which BA management seems to think its OK to let front line staff communicate rather than stand up and do it themselves) and punctuality issues (Very few of my flights in the last three months have been on time) mean I thought I would give the competition a go on my most regular flight, which is LHR to CPH.

I flew BA out and SAS back the following day. Flight times were similar (1615 out, 1625 back) so broadly comparable. I have status on BA but none on SAS, so the following comparison assumes a non-status flyer.

Fare Basis
BA: Economy Plus
SAS: SAS Plus

Fare:
BA: £137.81
SAS: £112.90

Seat selection
BA: T -24
SAS: At time of booking (took 1D)

Fast Track:
BA: No
SAS: Yes

Lounge access
BA: No
SAS: Yes

Priority Boarding
BA: No
SAS: Yes

Meal
BA: A small pack of 'nibbles'. Free bar
SAS: Lunch box including main course of cold meat, salad and dessert. Free bar

Both crews were fine, the SAS ones a little friendlier, the BA ones more formal.

You can see where I am going with this. Overall I think given my status I will now go out on BA as I suspect the T5 lounges are better than T2, but I will now be coming back SAS. So I guess thank you Snr Cruz for giving me the opportunity!
