I stayed at the Langham in Boston (formerly Le Meridien) a couple weeks ago and the stay was good. No welcome amenity to speak of but they automatically upgraded me into a loft suite. Almost all the time I stay at the Langham I get an upgrade, but have never yet received a welcome amenity. If I had to choose, I would choose the upgrade.

Will have stays coming up at:
Milan: Hotel Principe di Savoia
Geneva: Hotel des Bergues
Amsterdam: Hotel Okura
Frankfurt: Hotel Heissischer Hof
Stockholm: Grand Hotel Stockholm
London: The Halkin

Anyone have any experience at these? Do you find youself having to ask for the upgrade more often than not?
