Just finished a four night stay (4th night free) and I agree with pdrickey above that having a pool suite makes all the difference. However I would disagree with him that 105 is a bad suite. To me it is the best because it is the closest to the main building (just a few steps) and it is actually more private than most of the others. From above and on the sides the curtains block the view into the pool and from the walkway it is the only suite that has a high wall.

I booked through CTS and got the fourth night free, $300 in F&B credit, free wifi, noon check in, 4pm check out and the upgrade to the pool suite. Also the Bentley transfer.

The director of sales and marketing met us with an offer of lunch before check in, but we'd had plenty of food on MH business class and the lounge before that. So we accepted Champagne instead. But we were very well taken care of due to SPG Lifetime status or maybe something else. I don't know.

The grounds are excellent and the overwater restaurant is pretty good too. They have mesh nets over the water with cushions so you can lie down at sunset and enjoy the awesome views with a nice cocktail. The degustation menu is pretty good too. You can get it with wine pairings or choose your own bottle. We had a nice NZ white which worked very well with the menu.

The pool bar is fun and the main pool is rather unique. If you can score the island seats, as I did on Saturday afternoon, you can sit back and relax with a bucket of Coronas for only RM78. But again, the private pool is the best. I was jumping in and out of that several times a day and thanks to the privacy (close your eyes) no need to get your swim suit wet.

For people with children the Kids Pass is a great deal. For RM40 per day kids eat free in all the restaurants and they can use the kids club at the Westin next door. You can also take the buggy over to the Westin if you like their pools better or their beach.

Langkawi is an amazing place to starting with, but the other amazing thing was no mosquitos!!! I was sitting out on the bar patio one night (two happy hours, 5-7 and 9-11) on a beautiful night, full moon, perfect temperature and I was shocked when I thought...I'm in the middle of a real grade A jungle and there are no bugs bothering me! Maybe I was just lucky or maybe there is something about the microclimate here.

The only negative I can come up with is that this place is very new and it will take time before they have a fully trained and experienced staff. Still the only problems I had were tiny issues that were fixed with a phone call. In fact a great thing about this stay was that I always got the benefit of the doubt. When there was some confusion about what drinks qualified for the 2for1 happy hour, they gave it to me anyways. When the new pool bar guy didn't offer me the Corona bucket at first, they didn't charge me for the first beer and allowed me to pay for a bucket. Lots of examples like that where the tie goes to the guest. ^
