I got HHonors Silver status through some promotion. I'll now happen to actually stay in one of the Hilton chain's hotels (booked through an OTA since that was considerably cheaper than directly with Hilton).
Does Silver status grant me any meaningful benefit? Apart from the option of an extra 15% points collected there does not seem to be any meaningful benefit from that status. Did I overlook something? If I'm not interested in collecting points should I even bother to inform the hotel about the status (HHonors so far did not send me a physical membership/status card). So maybe "Two complimentary bottles of water per stay" (provided you actually do get those) is the only realistic benefit?

HH benefits Blue-Diamond Status are NOT DUE if booking INDIRECTLY ie via an OTA. (neither do you get points od qual night/qual stay credit )
Hotels may or may not give some or all your status benefits but it is not required.
