I decided to go this route instead of buying two PE W/R tickets then going for the upgrade and waitlisting two tickets based off feedback in this forum that said companion takes priority. I hope it does. Otherwise I'll have an angry fiancee sitting in economy on my next trip
You may not necessarily have an angry fiancee sitting in economy. There are several other scenarios:
1. She takes you J seat. You take hers.
2. She refuses to fly with you.
3. She will not be your fiancee anymore.
4...
If I were you, I would go for 2 R and go for upgrade.
