And you can have more than 1 card, it just needs approval.
My RM also used to say that. I got the card around September last year (2015). I understand the policies may have changed, but it's also possible that s/he isn't aware.
RMs at HDFC ain't very good generally, try asking your RM for the person who handles super premium cards at their branch.
